35

I used to take birthdays for granted, as I did health. Like having good health, another birthday was sort of a given. At least that is what I thought. I remember my 31st birthday. I remember saying it was just another day. It was just one of those insignificant birthdays. Besides, it was not 18, 21, 30 or 50 just 31.

My perspective on birthdays have truly changed. It does not have to be a round number or a "rights of passage" birthday to be significant. Yesterday, I celebrated my 35th birthday. This was my second birthday since my diagnosis. It was the most significant birthday ever because I made it another year. After my recent trip to the hospital, I was not sure if I would see it. I am blessed that I get to see every new day, especially my birthday.
